121 Financial Ballpark To Undergo Renovations: Project NEXT

121 Financial Ballpark, home of the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp, is getting an upgrade... and a name change!

121 Financial and VyStar Credit Union have merged as of March 1, 2024, but full conversions are expected to be completed later this summer. With the official name sponsor changing its own name, the ballpark will do the same, but not until the 2025 season begins. Brian Wolfburg, Vystar president and CEO says they're working on what the new updated name will be.

In the 2024 season, fans will get to experience the beginning phases of Project NEXT at 121 Financial Ballpark. The first phases include: a brand-new video board nearly 20 percent larger in size, new ribbon boards, and new concourse fans to improve air circulation. These renovations will take place over the next 6-12 months.

In an press release from the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp that lives on the official Minor League Baseball site, they explain further the long-term vision of Project NEXT: "the creation of an enhanced club space behind home plate, a brand-new front porch and center field plaza to welcome fans like never before. In right field, Project NEXT plans a multi-level building making the Jumbo Shrimp VyStar Credit Union Souvenir Store accessible on the street level, and on the concourse level, an incredible space that will be downtown Jacksonville’s newest spot for banquets and meetings."

First Coast News Jacksonville covers the renovations in greater detail, including site plans.
